Running Socks
Special running socks are very important for long distance runners, ie. marathon runners and triathletes, who will benefit most from their efferts. Running socks should be made of lightweight, moisture wicking materials, which will help prevent blistering. Ideally there should be two layers of these. They help prevent blistering by absorbing the friction between the layers. Feet stay dry as the inner layer transports the moisture away from the foot and into the outer layer for evaporation. Pure cotton socks are not ideal for runners, as they absorb moisture, but do not transport it away. Different types of socks have been developed for different running distances and styles. The appropriate model should be used. Particularly important for the well-being of the runner is to choose the right size of the socks.
